Cancer tests back on track

- BY NIGEL NELSON

SAJID Javid wants to get the bowel cancer screening programme back on track after Covid delays, following the death of his father from the disease.

The Health Secretary is also urging men in particular to speak to their GPs if they have symptoms.

Men are less likely than women to take up the over-60s home tests sent out every two years – 47% compared to 56%.

Nearly 43,000 people are diagnosed in the UK each year and 16,500 die from it.

Mr Javid said: “I know all too well how devastating this disease is, having lost my dad.”
