Royal tour hit by protests
THE Earl and Countess of Wessex yesterday faced banner-waving protesters in St Vincent and the Grenadines – a month after William and Kate’s troubled Caribbean tour.
Around 15 people called for slave trade reparations and an end to British colonialism during Prince Edward and wife Sophie’s visit to the island nation.
It came after campaigners in Antigua wrote an open letter urging the couple to avoid “phoney sanctimony” over slavery.
