BGT supremo will ‘never retire’

TALENT show ace Simon Cowell says he is far from X-hausted – and will NEVER quit showbiz.

The creator of Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor hit back at speculation he is due to walk away from his TV career because of burn-out.

Despite juggling film projects while appearing on BGT and the US version of the show, Simon, 62, says he loves it all too much to just retire.

He said: “We all consider it, of course. But then again, what am I gonna do? Ever since I started work, I have tried to go without a schedule.

“It was always like, ‘If you’ve got a good idea and you believe in it, just try and make it work’.” And he joked: “They got my age wrong. I am 43, actually.” Simon, branded Mr Nasty for his tough judging style, is currently working on a kids’ TV series called Wishfits.

It is based on the books about hybrid animals he created with son Eric, eight.

He said: “It’s the one thing I have never done… and I do think it will work.”

For the last two decades, Simon has featured on AGT, The X Factor and American Idol – the three most-watched entertainment shows in the US. But he was originally written off as a lad.

Speaking to US show Extra TV, Simon said: “I was so awful at school.

“All my teachers said I’ll be terrible when I go to work. My mum and dad would have been so proud.”
