1975 Tizer a surpriser at beauty spot
NATIONAL park visitors are being urged to take their litter home after a Tizer can dating back to 1975 was found.
It invites drinkers to send in 80p by cheque to claim a Tizer T-shirt – closing date June 28, 1975.
A ranger spotted the discarded can in Castleton, in the Peak District.
Spokesman Tom Marshall said: “It’s been in the landscape long before our ranger Anna, who discovered it, was born.
“Our teams collect 40 tonnes of rubbish each year – a cost that could cover an extra ranger.
“Litter not only looks rubbish but can cause distress to wildlife or act as a source of fire.”
Tizer, launched in 1924, is still made by soft drinks firm AG Barr.
