Rail firm gets shirty about see-thru kit

- BY STEPHEN HAYWARD

RAIL bosses came under fresh pressure yesterday to scrap new uniforms after female staff complained the shirts are see-through.

Transport union TSSA asked Avanti West Coast, which run trains from London to Manchester, to ditch the outfits.

The union says bras are visible under the blouses and will make female staff targets for harassment.

TSSA leader Manuel Cortes said: “This is disgraceful treatment of the workforce.”

Avanti West Coast said: “The uniform has been trialled by staff across the business and this issue was not raised.

“The composition of the shirt is heavier than the current uniform and conforms with international standards.”
