C5 Claudia yet to meet co-host Dan
THEY’RE tipped to be TV’s new golden couple… but 5 News anchors Dan Walker and Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije haven’t even met.
Claudia-Liza, who has been part of the 5 News team for more than four years, said she was “looking forward to getting to know” Dan, who recently signed a £1.5million three-year deal with Channel 5.
From May, former BBC Breakfast host Dan will join Claudia-Liza to anchor the 5 News show at 5pm four days a week. He will also present six hours of prime-time shows a year and cover for Jeremy Vine.
Speaking exclusively to the Sunday Mirror, Claudia-Liza – who received two nominations at this year’s Television
and Radio Industry Club Awards – said: “I’m looking forward to getting to know Dan. The suspense is killing me.
“We have swapped numbers and message now and again, I’m just trying to get the nerve to call him! I have my eye on Strictly, so I hope he can give me some tips.”
Dan told BBC viewers that the move was not motivated by money and said he would miss his colleagues – including Sally Nugent, Carol Kirkwood and Naga Munchetty – the most.
Earlier this month, he said: “Channel 5 came with big ambitions, with big plans… I can’t wait.”
