TONY SMITH praised his Hull KR side for digging deep to pick up three wins over Easter – and then denied claims he is “quitting” the club.

The Robins extended their winning run to six matches with a victory that lifted them to fourth in Super League.

Smith said: “Some people were worried after we didn’t win our first three matches, but we are on a roll at the moment.

“To get three wins over Easter is great and the boys dug deep to do it.”

Yesterday’s game was Rovers’ first since Smith announced he will leave the club when his deal ends this autumn, but he said: “I’m not quitting or anything, I am just finishing my contract.

“I’ve had some talks with people in my life and made a decision.”

Rovers full-back Lachlan Coote missed five of his seven kicks at goal, but scored one of their seven tries and created three others.

Kane Linnett, Coote and Shaun Kenny-Dowall went over in the first half as the Robins raced into a 16-0 lead.

Winger Ethan Ryan crossed twice in six minutes soon after the break, before Trinity staged a mini-fightback with tries by Jacob Miller and Lewis Murphy.

They cut the gap to 14 points, but Ryan Hall’s try made the points safe for the Robins and Linnett barged over for his second to complete the scoring.
