LEE’S LEFT SWEATING

-

EXCLUSIVE BY NEIL MOXLEY LEE BOWYER will have to wait until the end of the season to discover if he has a future at Birmingham.

The Brum chief (above) is due to sit down with the club’s hierarchy after the final game against Blackburn Rovers.

This follows a disastrous Easter programme in which 10 goals were conceded in defeats to neighbours Coventry City and Blackpool.

The latter occurred in front of 3,500 angry travelling supporters, who turned on the players with chants of “You’re not fit to wear the shirt”.

Derby County’s 21-point deduction has undoubtedly helped Brum avoid relegation, but patience is near breaking point among many fans after five successive seasons of circling the Championship dropzone. Technical director Craig Gardner has been busy compiling a list of targets for next season after several players were brought in on loan at the start of this season and during the January window.

Manchester United duo Tahith Chong and Teden Mengi, along with Wolves pair Dion Sanderson and Matija Sarkic, all played significant roles this term, but Brum need a rebuild.

Gardner’s list of potential targets is wide-ranging but progress will depend on funds made available by owners already nursing a £120million debt pile.

Targets include Bordeaux forward Josh Maja and Bristol City’s Kasey Palmer, as well as Forest Green right-back Kane Wilson.
