PHIL BROWN hailed his Barrow side after they secured their Football League status. John Rooney scored the goal but the Bluebirds had to dig deep after having Josh Kay sent off and they were indebted to Paul Farman for saving Rob Milsom’s penalty.

The match was marred by an allegation of racism from a spectator towards a Sutton player, with an arrest being made. Brown said: “The lads showed they are wearing the shirts with pride and have Barrow at heart.”
