Without it I couldn’t eat and sleep

-

Lisa Middleton, 46, from Sheffield

MUM-OF-ONE Lisa suffers from a number of medical conditions, including a rare connective tissue order called Holt-Oram syndrome and severe gum problems.

She smokes cannabis and also uses cannabis oil on her gums at night to help alleviate symptoms and to help her sleep.

She was arrested for illegally growing cannabis and given an 18-month suspended sentence in 2019.

Now defiant Lisa has started growing her own plants again, saying: “I don’t want a prescription – I want to be in control of my own medication.”

She said: “Being processed through the judicial system and branded a criminal has been the most traumatic and mentally damaging part of my life.

“The whole process has taken four and a half years, for a victimless crime. It’s ridiculous and absurd.

“Cannabis enables me to function as well as possible. It allows me to sleep and eat.

“It stops me from suffering from nausea all day and keeps my pain at bay. Without it I’d be in constant pain and unable to do daily tasks.”
