Protecting milk teeth

-

Tooth decay is the leading reason for hospital admissions for five to nine year olds, according to the Royal College of Surgeons. So it’s a good idea to avoid bad habits as they move to solid food.

“Start by monitoring your child’s sugar intake and allocate a set time for sugary snacks,” says dental hygienist Amanda Sheehan, for TePe.

“Begin to brush teeth twice a day with a fluoride-based toothpaste as soon as the teeth break through.

“Encourage children to drink water instead of sugary drinks, and give them a glass of water after they have sweet foods.”
