‘Frank is too much of a Jose’
FRANK LAMPARD has been transformed into Jose Mourinho and should not be managing Everton, says John Aldridge.
The Kop idol was disgusted by Everton’s spoiling tactics during last Sunday’s Merseyside derby, which Liverpool eventually won 2-0.
“The tactics came straight out of a Jose Mourinho manual when Chelsea used to feign injury and slow down play at every opportunity,” said Aldridge.
“Everton fans should be concerned by his appointment because I don’t believe they have a manager capable of pulling them clear of relegation.
“Just because you’re a great player doesn’t mean you are equipped to manage a top team.
“I don’t think that anti-football performance would have done him any favours with the Everton hierarchy or many of the
fans – especially those who were brought up in the era of Howard Kendall, Colin Harvey and Alan Ball in their midfield.”
He also believes that Brazil forward Richarlison and outstanding local prospect Anthony Gordon really should cut out the play-acting.
“Richarlison was the main culprit, trying to con the referee all the time,” added Aldridge.
“Even the Evertonians I know are getting sick and tired of him going to ground all the time, pretending he is injured.
“It’s a shame because he has so much talent.
“It’s the same with Anthony Gordon.
“He is easily Everton’s best player, but he has just got to cut out the theatrics.
“He was rightly booked for trying to claim a penalty in the first half against Liverpool.”
