Klopp: A cool bunch
what a game. James Milner - what a game. Diogo Jota – my god - what a game.
“Then you see Andy Robertson in the 93rd minute, making a forward run.
“It’s really cool. This is the only reason why we are where we are - this group is exceptionally talented with good character.
“And you should have seen the faces of the boys on the bench at the final whistle. They were also outstanding.”
Despite winning their last six home matches, Newcastle were on the back foot for the majority of the game.
However, Toon chief Eddie Howe admitted: “There’s been progress.
“We’ve improved a lot of aspects of our play, but it also shows there is a gap to bridge to the top teams.”
Howe added: “The biggest disappointment, for me, is individually. We didn’t excel.
“If we were going to upset this Liverpool team, we needed six or seven performers right on top of their game - and, today, that didn’t happen.”
