MICHAEL APPLETON confirmed he was leaving as manager of Lincoln after his side finished the season with a win. Chairman Clive Nates claimed the 46-year-old is looking “for a challenge elsewhere”, and Appleton said: “I would like to thank all of the supporters who have got behind the team.”

Chris Long opened the scoring for Crewe but Tom Hopper and Hakeeb Adelakun won it for Lincoln.
