Killing Eve star Jodie Comer, left, astonishes on her West End debut in Suzie Miller’s searing one-woman play about a young barrister raped by a colleague. Initially cocky, Tessa gleefully revels in exploiting human frailty in the dock to defend accused sexual predators. Her faith in the law is complete until she is attacked and her own nature must be judged – by herself as much as the court. Across 100 minutes with no interval, Comer commands the stage, peeling away Tessa’s layers but never soliciting pity. The script exposes the failings of a male-built legal system but falters at the end, slipping into needless emotional cues. The story and central performance speak for themselves.
