FALLEN Aussie ace Blake Ferguson could make his Leigh debut in today’s 1895 Cup semi-final against Sheffield Eagles.
The 32-year-old former State of Origin winner has signed a short-term deal after coach Adrian Lam handed him a career lifeline. Ferguson, 32, spent 29 nights in jail in Japan after his arrest on suspicion of cocaine possession following an incident in a restaurant on December 30.
His contract with Japanese club Green Rockets was torn up, but now Ferguson is hoping to rebuild his reputation with the Centurions.
Leigh beat the Eagles 34-6 in the Championship last week but Sheffield are hoping for revenge with the return of key duo Quentin Laulu-Togaga’e and Anthony Thackeray.
The Centurions, who have leaked a total of 12 points in their last four games – and scored 178 – will know their potential final opponents when their semi kicks off at 4pm.
Barrow take on Featherstone at 2pm, with promoted side Raiders huge underdogs.
Brian McDermott’s Rovers are the only team still unbeaten in the Championship and stuffed Widnes 74-6 in their last game.
