TODD’S BIG DAY RUINED

-

agreement to buy the Blues from Roman Abramovich in the early hours of yesterday morning, punched the air and wolf-whistled in celebration as Romelu Lukaku fired his side into a two-goal lead.

But substitute Trincao gave Wolves a glimmer of hope three minutes after coming on in the 76th minute before Coady popped up at the death to deny Thomas Tuchel (below) and Co three precious points.

Boehly and his consortium now have until the end of the month to thrash out the finer details of their deal to buy Chelsea.

In that time they must have their passing of the owners’ test ratified by the Premier League and gain permission from the UK Government to complete their takeover.

Boehly, co-owner of LA Dodgers baseball team, watched the 2-2 draw from a box next to Abramovich’s old one in the West Stand with Eldridge Institute business partners E. Adams Miller and Duncan Bagshaw.

Although the trio’s presence – along with the big forward step that the club had taken overnight in the takeover process – did not have any real bearing on Tuchel.

The Chelsea boss said: “I know it’s positive and we hope for the best. The situation’s been going on for so long now that we need it to be resolved.

“It doesn’t change much for us, as the sanctions have not been lifted and the season will go on anyway.”

Tuchel added: “We have our own stuff to sort out, and we are clearly struggling at the moment.

“I heard in the morning and I’m in the middle of my match-day routine, so there is no influence.

“I’m no more excited to come to the stadium this week as I was last week.

“I do what I do — I have my routine and I have enough to do.

“It didn’t affect me.”
