Fans light Brum fuse

- By JOHN WRAGG at St Andrew’s

ANGRY fans stormed the St Andrew’s pitch and new ownership is ready to take over at crisis club Birmingham City.

Manager Lee Bowyer will have talks about his future with chairman Zhao Wenqing tomorrow after only four wins in his last 30 games.

Two stunning goals from Rovers’ John Buckley and Ben Brereton Diaz, with Kristian Pedersen getting one back for Birmingham, did for Blues this time.

They would have been relegated if Reading and Derby had not been docked points.

The players’ parade around the pitch was scrapped as fans chanted for Hong Kong owners Birmingham Sports Holdings to go. Two groups are believed to be interested in buying BSH, who have owned the club for nearly six years.

One is headed by Birmingham businessman Paul Richardson and former Barcelona player Maxi

Lopez and the other is UK-based and advised by financier Keith Harris.

Bowyer said: “I’m not going to comment whether I want these people now or whether I want someone else in charge.

“I’m having a meeting with the chairman. I want to hear he understands the situation that I’ve had to face this season. I’ve kept us in this division for two years, but I want to be the person that’s challenging up the other end.”

Buckley scored against Blues when they walloped them 4-0 and were third in the table just before Christmas.

But Blackburn have nosedived and boss Tony Mowbray is leaving after not being offered a new contract.

“They were two goals of the season,” said Mowbray, who made his emotional farewells to his players.
