Only the beers will be on ice!

WEST HAM boss David Moyes is in hot water after their controversial Euro exit – but it was exactly the opposite the last time Dean Smith got the better of him.

Moyes was persuaded by his pal to leap into a freezing Scottish lake after pair had enjoyed a round of golf last summer.

Norwich manager Smith said:

“It was my idea, I talked him into jumping in Loch Lomond.

“Anyone who has played up there knows the course is fantastic, but you do well to get the weather.

“We had three days of unbelievable weather where afterwards it just felt right to have a little jump in. The water was freezing, though.”

Smith will make sure it is just the beers that are chilled following today’s Carrow Road clash.

Moyes is still coming to terms with West Ham’s disastrous Europa League semi-final second-leg defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.

Aaron Cresswell was sent off early on, Moyes was shown a red card for booting a ball at a ball boy and Declan Rice is in trouble for accusing the referee of being corrupt afterwards.

Smith added: “He won’t be in the mood for me taking any more money off him this summer after getting sent off the other night.

“But he will come in and have a beer after the game, win or lose.

“I’m really disappointed for West Ham, David has done wonders there.

“I thought this year they deserved to be in a European final and I’m gutted for them.”

Former Aston Villa boss Smith (right) has his own troubles as Norwich’s relegation was confirmed last week.

He said: “We have been labelled as nice to play against.

“I spoke to Harry Maguire after we played Manchester United and he said it was a good game that could have been 5-5.

“I don’t really want to hear that from opposition players – I want to hear, ‘You are tough to play against’.

“That’s what we want to get into our squad.

“I wanted to see more anger and drive in the players when we were losing and competing a bit more.”
