IT’S SCOT TO MAKE RETURN

EVEN the most blinkered English football fan must have noticed things are on the up north of the border.

Rangers are in a major European final, the Premiership winners will go straight into the Champions League group stages and the national team is unbeaten in eight games and has a fighting chance of making the World Cup finals. Congratulations all round.

And who is up for reviving the Scottish League versus English League fixture?

Believe it or not, there was such a thing and it sounded fun.

The last time it was played, in 1976, Trevor Cherry (above) scored the only goal of the game at Hampden Park.

Bring it back, I say. It’s not like we’ve got enough fixtures.
