‘Hardship’ as her career takes hit
THE race case has hit the acting career of Katie Jarvis, her lawyer said.
Patrick Harte told Basildon crown court Jarvis had suffered “hardship” and had not been in front of the cameras for two years.
The Southend incident came a year after she left EastEnders. As Hayley Slater she starred alongside Jessie Wallace – TV’s Kat Slater – and Shane Richie, her on-screen lover Alfie Moon.
Jarvis left EastEnders in February 2019 after appearing in 108 episodes.
A month later she was glassed “by a drunken Irish man” on a night out in London. She was treated by medical staff and tweeted her thanks to the Metropolitan Police and ambulance service for “looking after” her.
GRITTY
After EastEnders, she took a job as a security guard at a B&M store in Romford, East London. She won support from fellow celebrities after telling how she had been made to feel “job-shamed” for working to provide for her two kids.
Jarvis got her acting break aged 16 as troubled teen Mia in coming-of-age film Fish Tank.
Her gritty performance won plaudits including the Trailblazer award and Best Performance in a British Feature Film at the Edinburgh Film Festival.
She had a role in short film Let’s Talk about George, released in 2020.
And she appeared alongside Vinnie Jones in action drama Rise of the Footsoldier: Origins, released last year.
