Autistic girl’s £340k compo
THE family of a girl whose autism was caused by epilepsy drug Valproate have got a £340,000 payout.
A court in Paris ruled French healthcare firm Sanofi failed to provide data about side-effects.
Judges said Sanofi – which will appeal – must have known the drug, if taken in pregnancy, could cause malformations and “disorders” in kids.
Valproate is responsible for 2,150 to 4,100 deformities and 30,400 neuro defects, officials say.
