‘Disaster’ for North Korea as Covid hits
NORTH Korea’s Kim Jongun yesterday branded the Covid outbreak in the country a “great disaster”.
The first cases were announced on Thursday after two years of claiming to be Covid free – despite having no vaccinations and limited testing.
State media revealed yesterday there had been half a million unexplained fever cases in recent weeks, with 27 deaths.
Just one, in capital Pyongyang, was identified as being due to Omicron.
Blaming bureaucrats for the outbreak, dictator Kim warned that the epidemic was “the greatest turmoil to fall on our country since the founding”.
