Plan ‘is going against God’

Home Secretary Priti Patel announced plans last month to send asylum seekers arriving in Britain to Rwanda.

She claimed the move would send “a clear signal” that there would be no right to remain in the UK.

People seeking asylum after entering the UK illegally would be forced on to planes and flown to the east African country, to be processed for asylum there instead.

The decision followed a rise in desperate asylum seekers making a perilous crossing of the English Channel in small boats, with more than 6,000 people arriving this year.

The plan, lashed by more than 160 charities, was said to be “the opposite of the nature of God” by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.
