British pair do double
TRIATHLON
BRITISH athletes Georgia Taylor-Brown and Alex Yee both won their races at the World Triathlon Championship Series’ first event of 2022, in Yokohama.
Taylor-Brown (above), 28, moved to the top of the event standings with her victory, in 1hr 51.44secs.
She opened up a huge lead and said: “I just told myself to sit on it and empty everything out.”
In the men’s race, compatriot Yee, 24, outsprinted New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde in the final straight to claim victory in Japan.
FORMULA E BY AARON FLANAGAN EDOARDO MORTARA re-announced himself in the Formula E title race with his second win of the season.
The Swiss survived a late scare from Jean-Eric Vergne who tried a dive bomb overtake with just two minutes left on the clock.
Mercedes’ Stoffel Vandoorne keeps the championship lead after recovering from a disappointing qualifying to rise from eighth to third.

PECCO BAGNAIA made it two in a row as he smashed the Le Mans lap record to power to pole for today’s French MotoGP.
The Italian (below) will lead a Ducati Lenovo one-two today after beating team-mate Jack Miller by 0.069secs with his hot lap of 1min 30.450secs.
He said: “I struggled in free practice and was a little bit scared about the qualifying.”
