HUMBLE FRANK: ANY BOSS COULD BEE SUCCESS HERE

- BY IAN BAKER

THOMAS FRANK insists that Brentford’s success is not down to him – and reckons many managers could make a go of it with the Bees.

The Dane (right) is one of five contenders for the Premier League manager of the year after keeping the newcomers up.

But humble Frank reckons the players, plus key personnel including director of football Phil Giles, chief executive Jon Varney, owner Matthew Benham and former director

Rasmus Ankersen, deserve the credit.

Frank joked:

“Obviously I’m very good! No! I think there’s a lot of managers that would thrive here.

“The club have created an environment which makes me job easy. I want my players confident and humble.

“I’m confident and humble and know how important that is. I think my players and staff make me look good. It’s also me to take the blame when we lose lots of games.

“The overall environment that the club have created makes it easy to perform.”

Frank had a shocker of a start to his life in West London in 2018 when he lost eight of his first 10 games.

Ahead of today’s trip to Everton, he said: “Matthew completely backed us, he didn’t shake, he was calm.

“I never feared for my future. Hopefully Brentford will be my home for a long time.”

Looking ahead, keeping Christian Eriksen is a priority.

Frank added: “We want to keep the squad including Eriksen. We will work on that and add to the squad too.”
