MATT PEET insists his side have lessons to learn as they approach the Challenge Cup Final on the back of this defeat.

The Warriors have now lost successive Super League games in preparation for the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday where they face Huddersfield Giants.

And they were powerless to prevent the Black and Whites from scoring six tries.

Adam Swift scored two for Hull, while Darnell McIntosh, Josh Reynolds, Carlos Tuimavave and Chris Satae also went over the line for Brett Hodgson’s side.

Bateman, Liam Marshall, Bevan French and Liam Farrell but it wasn’t enough to secure the points at the MKM Stadium, though boss Peet was pleased with his side’s attitude.

Peet (right) said: “I think we’ll learn lessons. I’m just glad we don’t have to talk about our energy and desire.

“We came up against a good team – but frustration isn’t the overwhelming emotion. I saw some good signs. We were resilient.

“There was a time when Hull were clearly the better team but our response was positive and we worked our way back into the game. We have to move on, it’s the same game next week, it’s the same sport, the lessons we learn from this game will help us next week.”

Hodgson was understandably delighted with what he saw from his Hull side.

He said: “A win built on a lot of character.

“We were down to 14 men there

and players were playing injured.

“There was a period in the second half where I thought they were coming back but we were able to turn it. I’m really pleased with the win.”

The Black and Whites made the perfect start by opening the scoring with just three minutes on the clock, Swift finishing a fine team move in the corner.

They were firing on all cylinders in the opening stages, throwing the ball about well and finding the gaps they needed and McIntosh extended their lead, capping a fine piece of play from Ligi Sao and Jake Connor.

Swift notched up a second in similar circumstances before the visitors managed to get a foothold in the game.

That came through England international Bateman, who scooted down the short side and over from around 10 metres out.

Reynolds, who has struggled for form at times this year, capitalised on a Jordan Lane break to touch down under the posts.

However, Marshall ensured Wigan were still in the game at the break by dotting down just before the break.

And Wigan drew themselves level after the interval as a Harry Smith breakaway saw French touch down under the sticks.

Hull, though, kept pushing and restored their lead through Tuimavave and a drop-goal from the returning Luke Gale.

Farrell got himself over but Wigan were powerless to prevent Satae from killing off the game late in the day. HULL: Tries: Swift (2), McIntosh, Reynolds, Tuimavave, Satae.

Goals: Gale (3). Drop Goals: Gale. WIGAN: Tries: Bateman, Marshall, French, Farrell. Goals: Smith (3).
