FOREST BOOST STAGS PARTY

- BY IAN BAKER

NIGEL CLOUGH reckons hundreds of fans will be supporting both Nottingham Forest and Mansfield at Wembley next weekend.

Nottinghamshire is in the spotlight in both the Championship and League Two play-off finals.

Clough’s Mansfield take on Port Vale next Saturday and then

Forest are up against Huddersfield for a place in the Premier League on Sunday.

There are just 15 miles between Mansfield and Nottingham.

And Clough (above) believes it will be a festival of East Midlands football with fans flocking to get tickets for both games. He said: “There are lots of dual supporters. There are lots of Mansfield fans who support Forest and lots of Forest fans who support Mansfield.

“There is never any rivalry between the two clubs, it’s like a partnership.

“Some people have already told me that there will be Forest fans coming to our game and then their one on Sunday.

“There is that sort of relationship so I hope they do that.”

Clough, 56, scored twice at Wembley in the 1989 League Cup Final for Forest against Luton and also helped them retain the trophy a year later.

He played under famous father Brian at the City Ground and believes the man known as Old Big ’Ead would have a huge grin at his success at Mansfield and Forest’s resurgence under Steve Cooper.

Clough said: “I think about my dad all the time anyway so I’m not thinking any extra about him.

“I may think about him more when it does sink in that we are at Wembley.

“He enjoyed going to Wembley quite a few times and he’d be really chuffed we were going and Forest are going.

“Mansfield are going to Wembley and that feels quite incredible.

“This season feels as good as any we have had.”
