246,000 UK citizens Priti Patel forgot
NEARLY 246,000 citizens from the EU are still waiting for residence cards proving their right to live in the UK – a year after the settlement scheme closed.
That is despite Priti Patel boasting of a “hugely successful scheme so European citizens and their families can continue to call the UK home.”
Without the biometric cards they struggle to get jobs, rent homes and get NHS treatment.
Ex-immigration minister Caroline Nokes who designed the scheme said people were left in “limbo”.
Officials said they were working to process cases.
