Goalie Goram, 58, dies from cancer
LEGENDARY Scotland and Rangers goalkeeper Andy Goram has died of cancer at the age of 58.
Goram was told by doctors earlier this year he had six months to live after being diagnosed with stage 4 oesophageal cancer.
Known as “The Goalie”, he was capped 43 times for his country at football and four times at cricket – the only Scot to have played at the top level in both sports.
Goram helped Rangers to Scottish Premier League titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups.
He went on loan to
Manchester United in their 2001 title winning season.
Three times married, Goram was in a relationship with Elaine Mitchell, his partner since 2005, at the time of his death.
Ex-Scotland boss Craig Brown said: “He was full of fun and good-natured. It’s a heartbreak to many.”
