War flight is a Spit special...
My husband Steve is obsessed with World War II.
He’s read stacks of books, watched plenty of documentaries and often quotes Sir Winston Churchill to motivate and inspire our children.
So last Christmas I decided to buy him a trip in a Spitfire – the fighter plane that helped Britain defeat Nazi Germany.
When I handed him the voucher he couldn’t believe his eyes. And when it came to the flight itself, he was equally giddy with joy.
We drove to Goodwood and even I was pretty choked up when Steve emerged with his flying gear on. This was his childhood dream come true.
The pilot threw in a few aerobatics for good measure. It was a magical day and I’ll never forget the smile on Steve’s face.
It’s not a cheap experience and it might mean clubbing together to make a dream come true for your loved one.
I have to say Spitfires.com did us proud.
And Steve was on cloud nine.
