Slimani’s on cards for Forest
NOTTINGHAM FOREST are negotiating with Portuguese giants
Sporting Lisbon to bring Algeria striker Islam Slimani back to England.
Former Leicester City star Slimani has a contract at Sporting until June 2023 but is no longer in the manager’s plans and is valued at £3million.
Sporting need money for new signings and plan to sell up to five players this summer as part of a squad restructuring.
That plays into Forest’s hands and reports in Portugal say a deal is now close. Forest are offering the player a two-year contract and are confident of getting their man.
Slimani got Premier League experience with the Foxes and on loan at Newcastle and would be expected to settle in quickly for top-flight new boys Forest.
He is Algeria’s all-time top scorer with 40 goals, and cost Leicester a clubrecord £28m when signed from Sporting in 2016.
Slimani stayed five years and also had loan spells at Fenerbahce and Monaco.
