Basic equipment for home workouts
You might not be able to make it to the gym or an exercise class all the time but there are a few basic pieces of equipment that don’t cost the earth and mean you can still stick to your workouts at home.
A SKIPPING ROPE
Having a skipping rope means you can work out any time, anywhere.
You can skip in the kitchen, in the garden or even take it with you if you have to go on a work trip or on holiday.
A KETTLEBELL
A kettlebell is a versatile piece of equipment that you can use to do a full body workout at home. There
are loads of videos for you to follow online.
RESISTANCE BANDS
You can buy resistance bands really cheaply online or even from supermarkets. They are very easy to store and offer a good way for you to incorporate some resistance training into your home workout.
HAND WEIGHTS
You don’t even need to buy proper gym weights – just improvise by using things you have at home, starting off with tins of beans and building up to something heavier, like bottles of water.
A SET OF DUMBBELLS
These don’t need to be really heavy or expensive but dumbbells are versatile because you can do so many different exercises with them – from squats and deadlifts to bicep curls and shoulder presses.
