Them’s the breaks, no mistakes
In his resignation speech, Boris Johnson told us he’d done a marvellous job, but had to go because “them’s the breaks”.
Because everything that’s happened to him has simply been a result of terrible luck.
Other people get the odd spot of good fortune, but not Johnson.
He insisted he wasn’t at a party and then, how about this for rotten luck, it turns out he was there.
It’s the same with arsonists. “I set light to a building”, they say, “and I was so unlucky because then it caught fire. Oh well, them’s the breaks.”
