Musk Twitter exit ‘may be a cost tactic’
ELON Musk may be trying to buy Twitter on the cheap by ditching his £36billion bid for the social media giant, a legal expert claimed yesterday.
Ann Lipton, a corporate governance professor at Tulane Law School in New Orleans, said Musk’s position was “weak” legally.
But she added: “That doesn’t mean he can’t credibly threaten to create major litigation headaches for Twitter that could drag on for years.
“Twitter might be willing to settle for a small price reduction to spare the time and expense.”
Musk used a row over how many robot and spam accounts Twitter is littered with to ditch his offer.
Twitter said it would pursue legal action to enforce the agreement.
