When life is stressful and complicated, I take solace from the simple things.

I find being able to help others by reducing, reusing or recycling something makes me feel good about myself.

An example of this is when I reused some dead petals from a bunch of roses.

They still looked so pretty, even when dried up. It felt such a shame to just discard them.

So I asked my social media followers what I should do with them. The suggestions came in thick and fast – make perfume, eat them, use them as pot pourri, scatter them on top of a cake.

My favourite was to use them as natural confetti. I collected them in a box and posted them off to a lady who was getting married.

That is the sort of thing that gives me inner peace.
