Coffee prevents kidney problems
Did you know your morning cup of coffee could do more than make you feel awake?
Research shows it can help significantly lower the risk of kidney failure.
A study by Johns Hopkins University showed those who drank any amount of coffee each day had a 15 per cent lower risk than those who didn’t. Meanwhile, those who drank two to three cups a day had a 22 per cent lower risk.
“We suspect that either biologically active compounds combined with caffeine or just the caffeine itself improves kidney function,” says Dr Charig Parikh, director of nephrology at the university in Maryland in the US.
