‘I’ll increase goal Haal as City’s No.9’

- BY STEVE BATES

ERLING HAALAND has vowed to continue his phenomenal scoring spree after being officially confirmed as Manchester City’s new No.9.

Haaland, 21, will wear the same number he wore at Borussia Dortmund after Gabriel Jesus left that City shirt vacant with his £45million move to Arsenal.

And Haaland, who cost a bargain £51m after City met his buyout clause at Dortmund, has promised to continue banging in the goals.

He fired in 86 goals in 89 matches during his two-and-a-half seasons in the Bundesliga.

Haaland, who has also scored 20 goals in 21 games for Norway, said: “I’m delighted to have been presented with the No.9.

“It’s been part of my story over the last two years, both at club level and with the national team, and I’m looking forward to continuing that story at Manchester City.

“That’s a shirt that every striker aspires to – and to wear it at one of the best clubs in the world is a dream come true.

“I really can’t wait to get started – and I hope the fans are looking forward to it as much as we are.

“It will be great to get together with the other lads for the first time at the stadium and to get the chance to be introduced to our supporters.”
