Mendy up for grabs

- TOM HOPKINSON

PREMIER LEAGUE clubs are being alerted to the possible availability of Real Madrid star Ferland Mendy.

Initially, the France defender was not for sale this summer, but it is now understood that Bernabeu bigwigs will listen to offers in excess of £50million for the left-back, with boss Carlo Ancelotti’s blessing.

The arrivals of Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni, while not direct rivals with Mendy, have swelled the defensive ranks in the Real squad.

And there is a feeling at the club that they have sufficient cover if Mendy were to be moved on.

Mendy, 27, joined Real from Lyon for around £40m in 2019, and has three years left on his deal.
