- BY PHIL CARDY and ANDREW ROBINSON

NEIGHBOURS last night told of their shock after a mum was killed by dogs in her own home.

Two dogs were seized by police after the attack on the woman, 43, and her partner, 42, who suffered serious wounds to his hands, abdomen and face.

Police were called to the house just after 10pm on Friday. Locals named the victim as Joanne Robinson and some laid flowers at the house in Rotherham, S Yorks.

One woman hailed her as a “lovely lady” and a loving mum.

Another said: “I’ve got dogs myself. This is very sad.”

A third added: “It’s shocking.” The dogs’ breed was unknown but South Yorkshire Police said neither were considered banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

A spokesman added: “We were called by a member of the public stating a dog had attacked him and a woman.

“Officers attended with an ambulance crew and found a man, aged 42, with a potentially lifealtering injury to one hand, plus injuries to his other hand, abdomen and face.

“He was transported to hospital. The woman had been fatally bitten and despite the best efforts of emergency crews was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The dog, plus another dog at the property, were secured by specially trained officers.”

The incident comes after a three-month-old baby was killed by a husky in Woodhall Spa, Lincs, in March, and a boy of three was killed by a cane corso in Milnrow, Gtr Manchester, in May.
