Windermere’s got most fans as picnic spot
LAKE Windermere has been voted the best picnic spot in the UK.
Almost one in five of those polled (18%) picked England’s largest lake as their favourite – followed by Regent’s Park in London, preferred by 16%.
The survey of 1,500 people by Aspall Cyder found that half will only stop for a picnic if they can enjoy a breathtaking view.
Almost as many (47%) want somewhere off the beaten track, while 44% prefer to set up on a beach.
Artisan bread and sushi have ousted sandwiches as top picnic foods.
Other top spots included Llanddwyn Beach in Anglesey, which came third with 15%, Alexandra Palace Park, London (13%) and Watergate Bay in Newquay, Cornwall (13%).
