Gaming boosts kids’ intelligen­ce

Playing video games could increase your child’s IQ, according to a new Swedish study.

Researcher­s studied what effects playing video games, watching television and using social media had on intelligen­ce in children aged between nine and 10. While TV and social media use had neither a positive or negative effect on intelligen­ce, those who played video games more than their peers saw their IQ increase by 2.5 points over two years, the study by the Karonlinsk­a Institutet in Sweden and Vrije University Amsterdam found.
