Seven-up quencher for French

- BY JULIE STOTT

RECORD try-scorer Bevan French insists he is happy to be in seventh heaven – and not greedy for more.

The Wigan winger set a new Super League benchmark for tries in a game with his seven-try haul in Friday’s 60-0 thrashing of Hull.

It took him just 55 minutes to complete his amazing feat, before being taken off.

That left supporters wondering whether he could have challenged Martin Offiah and Shaun Edwards’ club record of 10.

But the 26-year-old Aussie said: “I’m just happy that I got seven, I cannot be greedy.

“I go down in history now so I cannot complain. I will remember that for the rest of my life.”

French is out of contract at the end of the year and has yet to tell Wigan whether he will accept a new deal.

He said: “I do not have an answer yet. But it won’t be too long before I figure out what I’m doing.”
