THE sporting performance of last week was surely

Tom Pidcock’s victory on the iconic Alpe d’Huez stage of the Tour de France.

The 22-year-old is a world cyclo-cross champion and Olympic mountain bike

champion and looks destined to become a winner of cycling’s blue riband event in the near future.

Apparently, the Leeds lad is a little cocky for some tastes.

So, that’s another string to his bow. Pidcock is the future of British cycling and a Sports Personality of

the Year in the making.

IT would be a brave man or woman who questioned Pep Guradiola’s judgement, but having seen Oleksandr Zinchenko (left) run the show for his country in a couple of World Cup play-off games, the Manchester City boss must have some squad if he is willing to let the Ukrainian go.
