Dunny’s Hairdryer

AS reassurances go, Farhad Moshiri’s insistence that his club is not for sale is about as convincing as Everton’s defence.

“It will always be pragmatic to explore all potential investment opportunities, but I want to reassure all of you that Everton Football Club is not for sale,” said Moshiri (above) in a statement last week.

Of course, it’s not.

But even less reassuring was the bit where he says Kevin Thelwell (director of football) and Bill Kenwright (the chairman) “are currently working hard to bring in new players to improve Frank Lampard’s squad”.

Kenwright gets a lot of stick from Everton fans and it always seems a little harsh.

But the truth about transfers over the past few years is that they have been pretty shocking – and Kenwright cannot escape the blame for that.

So when Moshiri tells fans that Bill is working hard on getting new players in – only James Tarkowski, on a free, has arrived so far, while Richarlison has gone – they can be forgiven for not dancing in the streets.
