‘My mum is keeping us afloat’
MUM-OF-TWO Antoinette Johnson always dreads the summer holidays – and this year more than ever.
With the kids at home she faces increased food bills as they lay siege to the fridge and use up extra electricity and gas.
The 44-year-old social care consultant from Brent, northwest London, said: “It’s only my mum who’s keeping us afloat.
“She helps with food, clothes and treats, and sometimes pays for nursery.”
Antoinette hasn’t been able to find work for the past couple of years and survives on Universal Credit and childcare allowance and each month is left with just over £1,000 for bills.
