Storm over Tesco tokens for veterans
HARD-UP soldiers are being given Tesco food vouchers to help with the cost-of-living crisis.
£100 tokens are being handed to soldiers in The Rifles – the Army’s largest infantry regiment, the Government confirmed.
The move was blasted by ex-Defence Minister Kevan Jones, who said servicemen and women had seen their pay slashed.
The Labour MP added: “Those who we rely on to protect our interests overseas should not be reliant on food vouchers.”
The Rifles Regiment had posted on Twitter: “We know that our Riflemen are not immune to the cost-of-living crisis sweeping the county. To help them, we are offering Tesco vouchers to those who are most at need.”
