Teacher now a top-of-class pro wrestler

- BY AMELIA MORGAN

A FORMER maths teacher who ditched his career to become a wrestler is on the bill at a major WWE event near his home town.

Eddie Dennis, 36, who followed the sport from age five, will star at Clash at The Castle at Cardiff ’s Principality Stadium on September 3.

It is the first major WWE UK show for 30 years and a homecoming for Eddie, from Gwaun Cae Gurwen, Neath Port Talbot.

Eddie, who is 6ft 6in and worked at private school LVS Ascot in Berkshire, had wrestled at weekends before turning pro in 2017.

He said he watched US wresting star Shawn Michaels in 1996 and “now he’s giving me advice”.

He added: “It was a risk giving up teaching to pursue my dream.”
