Extra prison time for pub punch death

-

A ONE-punch killer whose two-year sentence angered the family of his victim has had his jail term increased.

Jake McFarlane, 23, will serve 20 more months after the Attorney General argued his punishment was unduly lenient.

McFarlane hit roofer Ian Clitheroe, 50, outside a pub in Cambridge in January.

He died after bashing his head on the ground.

McFarlane, of Huntingdon, fled but was later caught on a train with £700 of cocaine in his luggage.

He was jailed for a total of 45 months at Peterborough Crown Court but that has been upped to 65.

Mr Clitheroe’s sister Lisa Jarmany, 54, said her family now felt “a sense of justice”.
