Kane at double in Ibrox

-

RANGERS 1 TOTTENHAM

HARRY KANE put on a masterclass of finishing to help Tottenham beat Rangers 2-1 in yesterday’s pre-season friendly.

Gers keeper Allan McGregor – continuing to belie his 40 years – denied Kane in the first half, pulling off several outstanding saves.

But there was no stopping the Spurs striker when he found his range twice in five minutes after the break, following Antonio Colak’s 24th-minute opener for the hosts.

Tottenham were presented with the Tull Trophy – named after Walter Tull, the first black professional outfield player in UK football, who represented both clubs.

But any chance of more meaningful silverware later in the season hinges on keeping Kane, who was given a standing ovation by the Ibrox crowd when he was replaced on 70 minutes.

Wilfried Zaha, who was forced to sit out Crystal Palace’s tour of the US, scored twice in his side’s 3-0 victory at QPR.

Former Rangers favourite Eberechi Eze was also on target at Loftus Road.

Tomas Soucek scored his second goal in as many pre-season matches as West Ham drew 1-1 at Luton Town.

The Hammers should have been out of sight before Sonny Bradley’s last-gasp leveller for the Championship club.

Pascal Gross and Solly March were on the scoresheet as Brighton edged out Reading 2-1, while Southampton and Watford ended 0-0.

Leicester fielded two teams – and won both games. Jamie Vardy netted as the Foxes beat Preston 2-1, and another side beat Derby 3-1.

Back in the top flight Bournemouth slipped up at home against Bristol City after a penalty from Chris Martin sealed it.

Fellow Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest also lost 1-0 away to German side Union Berlin.

And Bundesliga club Wolfsburg thumped Thomas Frank’s Brentford 4-0.
